The blue colour of the bit gradually changes to gray/brown with oxidation visible on the mouthpiece. Clean the bit with a damp cloth as the oxidation sports turn orange. This may also happen if the bit is temporarily not in use or is left in a humid place and is considered normal as this is what creates the sweet taste many horses enjoy.
