Sit in a chair with your knee bent at 90°, and measure from the back of your knee to the back of your seat.
Dressage saddles often run a size bigger because of the deeper seat. Endurance saddles with a horn are sized like Western saddles, usually 1"–2" smaller than your English size.

With you in the saddle, you should fit 2–3 fingers between the pommel and the withers.
The saddle should sit level, with the deepest part of the seat in the middle, and sit behind the shoulder blade.
The panels should touch the back evenly, with no bridging or rocking.
