A good fit
- Position: the cinch sits a hand's width behind the elbow, and the buckles land roughly even on both sides, a few inches below the rigging dees.
- Measure: the easiest check is the length of a cinch that fits your horse now.
- Tighten in stages: snug it, walk your horse, then tighten again before you mount.
- Flank cinch: always hobble it to the front cinch and adjust it to touch the belly without pulling.
