How to measure for breeches

Waist (1): measure around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso. US breeches sizes are close to your waist in inches.
Hips (2): measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat. If your hips fall in a larger size than your waist, choose the larger size.
Inseam (3): measure from the crotch to the ankle bone. Breeches are meant to sit at or just above the ankle so they fit smoothly under tall boots or half chaps.
Grip (4): full seats grip from the seat down the inner leg, a favorite for dressage and flatwork. Knee patches grip only at the knee, popular for jumping and hunters.
